Erdos plateau belongs to the typical temperate continental climate, the domestic natural soda lake spreads all over the place. It has a 2716.4-3193.9-hours sunshine per year with an sunshine percentage of 61-72%, and clear-cut seasons; and with around 11℃ to 15 ℃ temperature gap between daytime and nightime generally. The natural environment is almost same as world-famous Spirulina producing area- Africa Chad . There are 3 soda lakes in the hinterland of Mao Wu Su desert in Erdos Plateau, in which high output polysaccharide Spirulina Patensis were found.
After carefully studied the Spirulina Patensis grow in these three soda lakes,Professor Qiao Chen and Li Bosheng of the Inner Mongolia agricultural university proved on February 21,2002 that this kinds of Pure&Low temperature Spirulina Patensis was found for first time in the world.
Professor Qiao Chen and professor Li BoSheng did research on ecological adaptability and enzyme molecule,the results showed that the Spirulina in Mao Wu Su desert hinterland soda lake is suitable for cultivating under wide range of temperature compare with imported Spirulina Platensis and Spirulina Maxima, it has higher biological activity at 0 -80 ℃ , the Spirulina growth temperature ranges from 6 to 40 ℃ .At 24 ℃ ,the Spirulina is most suitable for growing; its SOD, POD, CATALASE , and EST may suit wide range of temperature condition compare with foreign introduced algal seed , the biological activity of the Spirulina under low temperature is 1.2 times or1.3 times high than foreign introduced Spirulina Patensis and Spirulina Maxim.
The research proved, the Spirulina grow in Mao Wu Su desert hinterland soda lake is belong to the type of Spirulina:low temperature resistant and wide range of temperature for growing.
In addition, Qiao Chen, Li BoSheng also realized its industrial production in 300 square meter cultivating-pool in 2003,it is the first time in China to cultivate Spirulina with natural lake water and put it into production,and finished the history that China can only import Spirulina algae from other countries
